The west side of Oahu is sunny and dry, encompassing the towns of Waianae and Kapolei. Located 26 miles from Waikiki, the Leeward Coast offers an escape from the bustling cityscape with easy access to explore the rest of the island.
Dubbed the ‘second city’, Kapolei is a rapidly growing community. The area is less developed compared to Honolulu, but you’ll find an array of modern amenities. Tee off at the championship golf course in the luxurious Ko Olina resort, or for family fun, spend the day at the waterpark. Stay a little longer while you’re at the beach for spectacular sunset views.
Further west, the rural town of Waianae consists mostly of residential communities. You’ll also find off-the-beaten-path beaches like Makaha and Yokohama. Hike to Kaena Point, the westernmost point, to capture incredible views of the Pacific.
