Having a special someone in your life is great. Seriously. Think about who you cherish in life and then think – do I appreciate them enough? If the answer is no, don’t worry about it, we’ve got some ideas on how to show your significant other/spouse/best friend how much they really mean to you.
Call up this significant person, clear both of your calendars and get ready for an awesome date night with our Four Date Night Adventures That Are Guaranteed to Impress.
- Explore The Wharf
One of the newest developments in the DMV, The Wharf is a perfect place to take your loved one – and wow them in the process. Start your night by prepositioning at Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria or National Harbor and take the Wharf Water Taxi in! The beautiful views on the water are worth the ride and you can basically tell everyone you took your date on a cruise.
Once you arrive to the picturesque Wharf, head to Mi Vida for an amazing selection of drinks and Mexican cuisine. Now, after a cruise and a fancy dinner, it’d be understandable if your date thought the night was over, but boy are they wrong. Spring a pair of tickets to see their favorite band at The Anthem on them – BOOM, the perfect date. Wrap things up at the end of the night with another Water Taxi ride, or just go down the Wharf and book a room at the Canopy hotel by Hilton.
- Get Board in Dupont
To the nerds among us who love art, books, and board games, this date night is for you. Starting off at Kramerbooks peruse the selection and make it cute by picking books for each other. Once your personal library is fully restocked, pop into Kramers’ cafe, Afterwords, for some coffee and snacks (we recommend the peach cobbler.) Walk up the street to The Phillips Collection and speak in hushed tones about how Rothko really makes you feel alive.
Consuming some of the best modern art around is truly tiring stuff, so make your way over to Board Room and take a load off. Order a few drinks, let your date win a game or two of Hungry Hungry Hippos, and enjoy the rest of your night (or if you’re like me, conspire against them in Monopoly!)
- Slurp and Sport in Chinatown
Sometimes the perfect date is all about finding a quiet place where the two of you can talk. Other times it’s all about watching the Washington Capitals skate circles around the opposing team.
If a hockey outing is more of your dream, be sure to swing across the street and get an awesome bowl of ramen from Daikaya before you head to the Capital One Arena (although be warned – they get busy and do not accept reservations.) Pro-Tip: If you get your tickets in conjunction with Hilton’s Capital Adventure Package, you can get great discounts.
- Say “Cheese” and Play Around in Arlington
Nothing makes a happy hour happier than adding our favorite dairy product – cheese! Head to Cheesetique in Arlington to munch on a great selection of cheeses, and don’t forget to pair it with something from their beer and wine menu.
Once you have had your fill, walk down the street to Punch Bowl Social (it’s like a Chuck E. Cheese’s for adults) to top off the night with bowling and arcade games. If you’ve worked up an appetite after such a fun night, don’t worry because they have a full drink and dinner menu as well.
If you’re looking to turn date night into more of a staycation, be sure to check out Hilton’s Weekend Like a Local Package which, with up to 50% off Sunday night plus exclusive dining and ticket discounts, will be sure to help make this a date you will never forget!
