If you’re looking for a special place to celebrate the ringing in of the New Year, look no further than Québec City. From December 28th to January 1st, the city dresses itself up and celebrates the ending of one year and the hopes and wishes for the new year to come. A time when friends and family and visitors from around the world enjoy 4 days of activities and music. Québec City hosts many parties throughout the year, but New Year’s is the biggest of them all and is completely free.

Here is how to celebrate New Year’s in Québec City like a boss!

1. Party Hop Along Grande Allée
Grande Allée is the place to go for gourmet restaurants and lively bars, each with heated terraces and festive libations. Whether you’re alone or with a group of friends, embrace the party ambiance along Grande Allée with an Ice Bar crawl and share your photos on Instagram using #jourAnQc.

2. Fun for the Whole Family
Enjoy activities and entertainment for children : ride the carousel or the Big Wheel and get a birdseye view of Québec City, whizz down a snow slide, treat yourself with roast marshmallows at Place Georges-V (in front of Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury), a go-to for families, couples and anyone looking for some New Year’s fun.

3. Don’t Worry About the Weather… Québec City Heats Things Up
While embracing the cold is part of the fun, Québec City knows how to heat things up so you can get the most out of New Year’s. Sit around outdoor fireplaces and take advantage of heated terraces (and a few cocktails!). Of course, the party itself will heat things up rather nicely as well.

4. An Outdoor Nightclub
Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale is where you’ll find a big open-air dance floor on New Year’s Eve. Let the music take over your body and dance all night as DJ Champion ignites the crowd. If you prefer traditional music, go to Parc de la Francophonie. There is entertainment all night long, so dress warm and be ready to party!

5. A Countdown Worthy of a Mic Drop
New Year’s Eve is never complete without a huge display of colourful fireworks, and Québec City is no different. Watch the screen and count down to the New Year with revelers from around the world and watch the fireworks burst forth from the Plains of Abraham over Grande Allée. Ring in the New Year, outside, like a boss, in one of the historical cities in Canada. Mic drop.
