When it comes to delicious, fuzzy, refreshing craft beer, the Tampa and St. Petersburg area are not to be taken lightly. In fact, the area has slowly been cementing its stake in the craft beer industry, and before long, it’ll be known for that just as much as its coastal vibes. In both cities respectively, there are dozens of events each year dedicated to the Tampa Bay area craft beer scene, and if you’re a new implant to the city, you’d be remiss if you didn’t take advantage of what’s right in your backyard.
Here are some interesting craft beer events in Tampa and St. Pete to look out for through the year. All you have to do is show up with an empty belly and a positive attitude.
- St. Pete Beach Festivals: Beer Fest – May
With this festival, beach-goers can combine their love of the water and sand with their love for sudsy craft beer. Guests can enjoy more than 50 craft beers from all across the states as well as various food truck options and live music. There’s even a VIP experience available where a lucky few can sample unreleased beer from brewers!
- Bolts Brew Fest – August
The Bolts Brew Fest is sponsored by the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team, and it’s said to be “the drinking event of the summer.” The event is held at Amalie Arena and features more than 100 craft beer varieties for guests to sample and enjoy. There will also be games, entertainment and opportunities to connect with real Lightning personalities!
- Busch Gardens Bier Fest – August, September
Think Busch Gardens is only for kids and thrill rides? Think again! On weekends in August and September, you can head to the theme park and explore beers from all across the globe, as well as local beers from right here at home. It’s technically a “toast to the end of Summer,” but you live in Florida, so whether or not you want to honor that is up to you.
To add the cherry on top, there are also lots of local breweries you can visit if you don’t want the pressure of a specialized festival. There are companies like 7Venth Sun Brewery, Cigar City Brewing and The Brew Bus, which provides “the ultimate craft beer experience” via a mobile tasting room!
Since we know you’re the epitome of responsibility and wouldn’t dare drink and drive, you’re probably also looking for a great hotel stay to accompany your craft beer adventures. Consider the many Hilton hotels in the Tampa/St. Pete area. The Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park is super scenic with lakefront views and an infinity pool, and the Hilton Tampa Downtown
is right in the center of the action. Plus, there’s a rooftop pool and sundeck and even a Starbucks right on site…for you know…when you desperately need that next-day boost!
Cheers, Tampa and St. Pete!
