When thinking about New York City it is impossible not to picture the image of the Empire State Building among the dramatic skyline. Completed in 1931, it has become an American cultural icon, a National Historic landmark and a most loved attraction to visit for millions of tourists in New York City each year.
To help you plan your visit, we have some great tips from our local experts at Hilton Garden Inn New York/West 35th Street. The hotel is only one block from the Empire State Building and many of its rooms offer phenomenal views of the building itself (see image above):
-Visit the Empire State Building early in the morning to avoid the long lines that build up mid-morning through to early afternoon. The quietest times are typically 8am-11am so you will have more space and less wait around those times. Avoid holiday days where you can!
-Evening visits are well worth it and makes for excellent pictures with all the lights! After your experience, head to the STATE Grill & Bar Restaurant within the building where you can enjoy fine wines, cocktails and delicious food.
-If you are bringing a stroller, you will need to fold it before entering the elevator. Avoid bringing large bags to make your security experience all the smoother.
-Take lots of pictures from all sides and do not rush your experience! When you come down, take time to explore the lobby as there are some great features to see, including the beautiful Christmas Tree over the holidays
