Waking up next to the one you love with a backdrop of the ocean’s deep blues, clear skies, and forest green mountains is one the most alluring reasons to visit St. Lucia. Not only is the Harbor Club, Curio Collection by Hilton one of the best resorts in St. Lucia, but it is the ideal starting point when it comes to exploring this magical island paradise – with which you will develop a love affair that will last a lifetime. Check out my Insider’s Guide to Marigot Bay, St. Lucia, so you can make the most of your stay with your one and only, whether you’re planning your honeymoon or simply a long weekend getaway.
Best Caribbean View
In St. Lucia, everywhere you turn there is an incredible view but if I had to choose some of the best I would say the island’s legendary Pitons in Soufriere are simply stunning. You can appreciate these volcanic peaks by air, sea or land.
If you are anything like me and enjoy getting a little down and dirty, you will choose the 2-hour hike up Gros Piton. We took the trail starting at Fond Gens Libre and after reaching the summit, it felt much like being on the top of the world. Make sure to take water, comfortable shoes, and a cap as the Caribbean sun can’t be taken lightly.
If you are looking for a relaxing day with your honey, there’s no better place than St. Lucia’s resorts and beaches. Since I was staying at the Harbor Club, located in Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach was my favorite spot.
At Jalousie Beach, in addition to getting an amazing suntan, you can also snorkel and scuba dive. Another very peaceful breach is Grand Anse, where you can have the one-of-a-kind opportunity to watch leatherbacks laying their eggs between the months of March through August.
Marigot Bay has so many different and beautiful beaches to explore that you can never run out of nooks and crannies to explore. Take a day-trip and snorkel at Anse Couchon, La Choc or Vigie beaches. If you feel a bit like a daredevil, you can always try a kitesurfing lesson at Sandy Beach near Vieux Fort, which was one of our most memorable experiences.
Adventure & Nature
The Pigeon Island National Landmark is an iconic and must-see reserve. At the Fort Rodney ruins, I got a winning panoramic picture and there are no other words to describe the inflatable slides at Splash Island Water than: absolutely fun!
We recharged with an unforgettable mud bath at the Sulphur Springs, the only drive-in volcano in the world and then took a 45-minute hike through the Tet Paul Nature Trail and also ended our day by visiting Dennery Falls.
Diamond Botanical Gardens
Don’t miss out on a day trip to the Diamond Botanical Gardens, the most romantic gardens I have ever visited. Fall in love all over again at its rainbow waterfall, from which diverse colors emerge due to the water’s ever-changing mineral content.
Castries is the perfect town to walk around holding hands. Shop around for handicrafts at the Castries Market, and especially at the La Place Carenage Shopping Plaza and Pointe Seraphine duty-free shops. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Walcott Square are lovely stops you can also make during your visit.
World-class Gastronomy & Nightlife
Romance your better half with Creole, French, and West Indian flavors in St. Lucia. The Coal Pot Restaurant near the Vigie Marina has tasty dishes and the food at Big Chef Steakhouse in Rodney Bay Village is beyond scrumptious. For the ultimate romantic dinner that will delight your senses make sure to visit Jade Mountain Club.
There is nothing better than drinking a cocktail while being lulled by the Caribbean breeze, so try the Rum Therapy Bar and Treatment Center in Castries or Irie Bar in Gros Islet.
You will never get tired of the multicolored sunsets in the arms of your sweetheart in St. Lucia. Hopefully, my guide to Marigot Bay, St. Lucia helps make the most of your stay at one of the most beautiful gems of the Caribbean. Come relax, unwind and enjoy, at The Harbor Club, where you will feel exactly like the locals say: no pressure, no problem.
