Monkitail at The Diplomat Beach Resort has been recognized by USA Today as the #1 Best Hotel Restaurant. Executive Chef Taka shares his tips for making the perfect sushi roll below:
- Before you begin preparing your sushi, make sure that all of your ingredients are fresh and ready to use. The fish must be properly cleaned and the vegetables should be prepped and sorted.
- The first step to making a sushi roll is to spread the sushi rice evenly on nori (dry sea weed) – use your fingers for the best results. This will make forming your roll easier and more efficient.
- When you’re forming your sushi roll, make sure that all ingredients are secured tightly. This will prevent the ingredients from falling out of the roll when it is eaten.
- Cutting your roll might be the most difficult part of making sushi. Be sure to wet your knife each time you cut into your roll – this will prevent the rice from sticking to your knife.
Michael’s Favorite Sushi Dishes from Monkitail:
