Since moving here just over a decade ago, Atlanta has blossomed into a true vacation destination. In addition to being a foodie’s paradise, there are numerous activities and unique attractions around the city. Sure, you could go to the World of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, take a tour of CNN’s Studios or take a detour because there is so much more to see.

Atlanta Botanical Garden
When taking a tour of The Atlanta Botanical Garden, it’s easy to forget you are in the center of the city. Located next to the popular Piedmont Park, the garden features plant collections both indoors and outdoors, an edible garden and a variety of animals. Have lunch at Longleaf Restaurant located onsite and enjoy fresh seasonal dishes. Imbibe in a cocktail on the rooftop terrace while taking in the incredible views of the Atlanta skyline.

Tip: There are always special events and exhibitions happening at the Garden. Be sure to check the website to see which events are happening when you visit.

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu Temple
Located just northwest of Atlanta in Lilburn, Georgia, the Mandir is a Hindu temple made of three types of stone. The Mandir, took the help of 1.3 million volunteer hours and 17 months of construction to complete. The temple features fine details and exquisite architecture. All of the 34,000 individual pieces that make up the temple were hand carved, shipped from India and assembled in Atlanta.

Tip: Entry to the temple is free for all ages and everyone is welcome.

Behind the Scenes Tour of the Mercedes Benz Stadium
When the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in Downtown Atlanta, locals and visitors could not wait to get the first look. This state of the art stadium isn’t just for sporting events anymore, it has become a destination in and of itself. A tour of the stadium gives you a closer look at the inner workings of what happens behind the scenes.  The tour shares great facts and offers a fun photo opportunity inside of the Atlanta Falcons locker room.

Tip: After you’ve taken the stadium tour, have lunch at Molly B’s located inside the stadium where it showcases panoramic views of the field.

Stone Grill
Atlanta has a large Korean community and in recent years has been dubbed the “Seoul of the South”. Travel north of the city to Duluth and you will find delicious options from Stone Grill Korean BBQ. The menu at Stone Grill is made up of Korean favorites, as well as some fusion dishes that are perfect for easing your way into Korean cuisine. The grills are perfectly situated in the middle of the table where you are able to have an interactive dining experience by grilling your own food which includes cuts of pork, beef, and chicken. My favorite dish by far is the Cheese Dung Galbi which is Spicy Baby Back Ribs served with a cheese fondue.

Fox Brothers BBQ
There are a number of options for BBQ in Atlanta but Fox Brothers BBQ has been a local favorite since it opened in 2007. Justin and Jonathan Fox, originally from Texas, brought the flavor of Texas BBQ to Atlanta with an added southern flair. Fox Brothers is located in Candler Park just 10 minutes east of the city. A sign that you are in for some good BBQ is that you can smell the aroma before you walk inside. I always enjoy their smoked wings, pulled pork, ribs, smoked chicken, baked beans and Frito pie. I highly recommend you try the white BBQ sauce on the smoked chicken!

Amorino Gelato
To satisfy your sweet tooth, head to Amorino at the popular Lenox Mall for authentic Italian gelato, macarons, crepes, and waffles. You can also take your pick of hot beverages like cappuccinos, lattes, and teas. The Affogato made with espresso and topped with gelato is a customer favorite and a must try when you visitEvery time I visit Amorino I have a hard time choosing between the hazelnut or salted caramel gelato, chocolate macarons and the Affogato.

Atlanta is one of the most diverse cities in the South and is full of rich history, culture, entertainment and fantastic food. People are moving to this beautiful city daily, so when you’re planning your next vacation, visit Atlanta to see what all the fuss is about!
