Baseball to tubing to restaurants, it’s all in Cobb County!

Cobb County dubs itself “Atlanta’s Sweet Spot,” and we are not one to disagree. Home to the Atlanta Braves, numerous Fortune 1000 companies, treasured historical landmarks, Six Flags Over Georgia and the Chattahoochee River, there truly is something for everyone in Cobb County.

Located northwest of Atlanta, the state’s third largest county packs a lot of fun into its 345 square miles. Probably the best known Cobb activities are The Battery Atlanta/SunTrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves , shooting the ‘Hooch’ and Six Flags Over Georgia. Located off I-75 and I- 285, the ballpark boasts more than 40,000 seats, lots of baseball-themed activities, concessions for every foodie and — of yes — the Atlanta Braves! Even if there isn’t a game, it’s fun to explore The Battery where they have a variety of shops, special events and fantastic restaurants such as Gio’s Sicilian Cucina, H&F Burger, the Yard House and Ph’East.

Georgia native Alan Jackson sang about the Chattahoochee River. “Shooting the hooch” is a favorite summer activity. You can bring your own tube, or rent one, but you’ll enjoy drifting through the cool, gentle current (and some gentle Class 2 rapids) and enjoy nature at its finest.

For those who want a little more excitement, a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia is in order. Located on the west side, the amusement park features more than 40 rides including 11 roller coasters, three children’s areas, water rides and thrills galore.

Cobb County is part of the Cherokee Nation and was the site of several Civil War battles including the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. Take some time to visit the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History in Kennesaw, the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield, a 2,965-acre park that preserves the battlefield, and the final resting place of thousands of Confederate and Union soldiers at the Marietta Confederate Cemetery and the Marietta National Cemetery.

Cobb County is home to some of the best restaurants in the area, fantastic shopping (The Galleria and Cumberland Mall), quaint boutiques on the Marietta Square and fun for all at Andretti Indoor Karting & Games and Six Flags White Water. There truly is a sweet spot for everyone.
