With tons of activities, events, and shopping, the San Antonio River Walk is the perfect place to spend time during your trip to San Antonio, and over 13 million visitors annually agree. Thanks to Texas’ relatively mild weather year-round, soaking up some rays while getting in a few steps in the beauty of it all has never been easier. Check out our suggestions below for awesome year-round River Walk restaurants, hotels, and events.

River Walk Restaurants

There’s tons of restaurant options on the River Walk – and they’ve all seem to won an award for ‘this’ or are the ‘best’ at that. With so many choices, how do you choose?! We’ve rounded up a few favorites below based on years of dining with them along with the fact that they can’t be considered ‘tourist traps.’

We’re pretty big foodies here on the blog and recommending a restaurant that knows its ingredients inside and out is the highest praise we can give. Restaurant Gwendolyn knows their ingredients – they pick them up from the farm or ranch and prepare them using true old school methods. That’s right, no microwaves or fryers or modern equipment used here, these guys are whipping up your pan roasted quail or duck tataki just like great-great-great grandma used to make. I highly recommend gathering a group of friends to try their seasonal 5 or 7 course Tasting Menu – it’s always a smash hit!

Welcome to the ‘Most Beautifully Designed Bar’ in our grand state of Texas. Ocho is a pan-Latin eatery (fusing Cuban and Mexican styles) with the most incredible glass conservatory ready to serve you breakfast, lunch, or dinner (along with those late-night treats). Give the Bistek Americano, Havana Hippie Torta, or Banana Bread French Toast a whirl – they have my heart.

While Biga is well-known in San Antonio, one could hardly define it as a ‘tourist trap.’ Highly celebrated Chef Bruce Auden updates the Biga dinner menu daily based on his inspiration of the freshest seasonal ingredients. Whether you opt for an entrée or just dive straight into the Seasonal Prix Fixe Chef’s Menu, you have to end your night with the Sticky Toffee Pudding – it’s been touted as the dessert in San Antonio.
