Mill City BBQ and Brew

Mill City BBQ and Brew in Lowell is a spirited spot, run by a fun-loving family who serve slow smoked pork with a side of personality. Whether you go for their sensational smoked turkey, flavor packed pulled pork, or perfectly cooked brisket, Mill City serves up all your gluttonous guilty pleasures on one menu.

 Curtis’ Bar-B-Q

For over 42 years, Curtis Tuff has been making delicious open pit barbecue grilled right in front of you and served out of an old blue school bus, at Curtis’ Bar-B-Q in Putney, Vermont.  Where it may not be the fanciest of restaurants, everyone who makes their way here agrees it’s most definitely fantastic, especially if you order Curtis’ slow cooked over hard wood, ribs.  And since Curtis uses an open pit rather than a smoker, the flavor of the meat isn’t overpowered by the smoke.

Durk’s Barbecue

Located on Thayer Street in Providence, Rhode Island, Durk’s Barbecue is the real deal. All of their ‘que is cooked out of an enormous, state of the art smoker named Stella. It is a wood-burning Ole Hickory pit, rotating multiple racks of up to 1,200 pounds of meat at a time.  You can see and smell the smoker as soon as you arrive, as Stella is located along with the cutting station, where you can order babyback ribs, double smoked sausage, and sweet and sassy pulled pork. There is a slew of downhome sides including mac and cheese and fresh-baked cornbread with brown butter and honey to accompany your choice of perfectly smoked meat.

BT’s Smokehouse

BT’s Smokehouse in Sturbridge is a friendly roadside spot that customers don’t mind travelling for. Here, they served slow smoke wings and tender pulled pork available on a platter or as a sandwich, but the real must-order order from the smoker has to be some of BT’s ribs. Cooked to the textbook definition of perfection, these ribs fall off masterfully off the bone, with a little pull and packed with tender juices.

Shed’s

Another great 8 winner is Shed’s. Located in Downtown Boston, Shed’s is a down-home, honky-tonk, real deal, Texas style barbecue joint. This quick service spot serves slow-cooked family recipes super-fast. When customers come in, they head straight to the chop block to watch brisket sliced, turkeys smoked, chicken and pork pulled, and, best of all, the ribs. For there, customers can build their own sandwich, plate of bowl, even to go!

Firefly’s

Firefly’s in Marlborough is a legendary spot renowned for their national award-winning Saint Louis ribs, always cooked slow and low.
