Dining out on Christmas Day can be tough – many restaurants are closed. Thankfully, each of the Houston restaurants below is open this year and are waiting with open arms to serve you and yours. If you’re in need of a meal, I highly recommend this entire list:

1600 Bar + Grille – Downtown

Situated in the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel downtown sits the 1600 Bar + Grille. If you’re looking for a casual dining restaurant that prides itself on using farm-to-table ingredients to create delicious masterpieces with a Southern flair, this is your spot. On Christmas Day they’re offering an extended breakfast buffet from 6 am – 1 pm with a harpist playing on site starting at 10 am. The breakfast buffet is $23/person and reservations are recommended.

The Pearl Restaurant and Bar – Downtown

A great all-day dining option on Christmas is The Pearl. Nestled inside of The SAM Houston hotel, The Pearl offers upscale dining in a relaxed environment. There’s two sides to the establishment: the restaurant and the bar. On Christmas Day, the restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, and the bar is open for lunch and dinner. Get the bread pudding – trust me.

Kiran’s – River Oaks

The best Indian food with the most beautiful dining experience in Houston is waiting for you at Kiran’s on Christmas Day. Open from 11 am to 2 pm and 5 to 10 pm, you can grab your favorite dish or devour Chef Kiran’s holiday menu she crafted especially for Christmas. Nosh on dishes like chicken tikka tamales, paneer cannelloni, and paneer cutlet on avocado toast.  The Christmas menu is $75/ea for adults and $35/ea for children 12 and under. Reservations are recommended.

Kim Son – Bellaire and Sugar Land

I have three words for you: Christmas dim sum. I’ll say it louder for the people in the back – CHRISTMAS DIM SUM! One of my favorite Christmas traditions in Houston is visiting Kim Son in Bellaire on Christmas Day and eating my fill of sui mai and har gow until I explode. Dim sum is my ultimate comfort food and Kim Son does it right. Make sure you get there early, though, as it starts filling up right at 10 am when they open.

Katz Deli – Montrose

Sometimes you just want a massive pastrami sandwich or mile-high stack of pancakes, and Katz’s will never let you down. With their “Katz’s Never Kloses!” slogan, all day every day is the right time to show up and enjoy your favorite comfort food.

La Tapatia – Various Locations Across Greater Houston

There’s something about Tex-Mex on Christmas. Maybe it’s because we’re Texan and queso runs in our veins, but I don’t need turkey or ham or stuffing on Christmas – toss me a plate of fajitas and a margarita and I’ll have a very Merry Christmas, indeed! If you end up at La Tapatia, absolutely grab the queso fundido with chorizo for an appetizer while you’re perusing the rest of the menu. It’s phenomenal and I highly recommend it!

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse – Galleria

Consistently delicious food is hard to come by, so knowing that an old standby like Ruth’s Chris is open on Christmas Day makes deciding where to go a bit easier. Savor a delectable shrimp cocktail, juicy steak, and mouthwatering sides for a hearty meal Santa is sure to envy.
