No visit to Quebec City would be complete without an hour or five spent browsing the whimsical world of Benjo, the city’s most popular toy store. Since 2004, Benjo has been delighting children and adults alike in the heart of Nouvo St-Roch in Quebec City, and you can see why. This is no ordinary toy store! Your very own “Little People’s Door” opens and you can immediately jump on the big electric train for a ride through the store. Each of the 20 departments in this massive store features toys that are designed to spark your imagination, including crafts, books, STEM, dolls, and games. And of course, you will meet Monsieur Bidule, a life size robot that will enchant you!
However, the stars of the show are Benjo and his friends Rosie, Cargo, and Roger, the mascots of the store. Before you arrive, download Benjo’s The Black Pearl interactive story cube reading app and prepare to be amazed. Hold up your smartphone or tablet to the posters in the shop window and watch them come to life through augmented reality technology. You can even talk, sing, dance and play the guitar with Benjo and Rosie and take a picture that you will receive by email for free.
If the store wasn’t enough for you, make a day of it by adding on the Benjo Craft Workshop and lunch at their restaurant “La Fabrique”. Crafters can paint ceramic pieces to take home for a few dollars before sampling the tasty and healthy sandwiches, soups, and salads at the café without leaving the store. And don’t forget to pick up some delicious candied popcorn and some sweets on the way out!
