My family recently made the short drive to Dallas to check in to the landmark Hilton Anatole hotel and check out the activities and offerings.
JADEWATERS AT HILTON ANATOLE
Upon arrival we checked in, found our room, and then headed straight to the Hilton Anatole pool complex, JadeWaters, which is for the exclusive use of hotel guests. We gave our room number to the staff at the entrance of the pool and were each given an armband before being admitted. As this was a sunny Saturday afternoon, there were plenty of people making use of the pool, but we still had no trouble finding lounge chairs near an umbrella.
The lazy river was the first activity for our group. I grabbed one of the many available tubes, expecting to have a leisurely float through the water. My boys, however, made a game of seeing how many waterfalls and fountains they could push my tube under as we made our way around. They both got dunked in return, much to their delight.
With our shenanigans in full swing, we headed to the water slides. There are two side-by-side slides that twist and turn. One is an enclosed tube and the other is open. We had races to see who would get to the bottom first. And since I’m the one writing, I can report that I won each time.
After several races, my older son was ready to hit the basketball pool. There are four hoops and basketballs are provided. My son joined a game and was busy for the majority of the afternoon. My younger son went to the splash and play area for smaller kids. With a slide and fountains in a shallow pool, this is a great place for toddlers through early-elementary age kids. There is also a separate adult pool area with a swim-up bar and hot tubs.
Just outside of the pool complex, lawn games are available for your family to try out. The hotel also showed an outdoor movie on the lawn during one night of our stay. Take a blanket or towel to sit on if you choose to catch the movie. There were also several organized poolside games and activities during our stay, so check the schedule to see what’s being offered.
HILTON ANATOLE RESTAURANTS
We took advantage of three of the restaurants at Hilton Anatole while we were there. We enjoyed a couple of meals poolside. There are plenty of waitstaff ready to take your order and bring your food directly to your lounge chair, or there is a large area set up with tables and chairs to one side of the pool area.
We went to Media Grill+Bar one night for dinner. Check for specials allowing kids to eat free at this location. The food was very good, but I especially recommend the crème brûlée and bread pudding. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Terrace each morning of our stay.
HOTEL SPA AND FITNESS CENTER
If you’re looking to pamper yourself, V Spa offers a wide range of services and is located adjacent to the pool complex. The fitness center, Verandah Club, is much more than the typical hotel fitness room, and I hope to explore more of it more on a future visit.
ART AT HILTON ANATOLE
Finally, do take time to notice the extensive art collection located throughout the hotel. There are some especially interesting pieces including a section of the Berlin Wall and a propeller from the British ship RMS Lusitania in addition to the many pieces of Asian art on exhibit.
We had a great stay at Hilton Anatole. Although we spent our time enjoying the hotel and all it had to offer, it’s also a great location if you want to explore more of Dallas. Whether it’s vacation or a business trip where the family can tag along, Hilton Anatole is the best choice for family-friendly fun in the Big D!
