First Night Boston

Boston on New Year’s Eve is a time-honored tradition for Bostonians and visitors alike, with official First Night Boston festivities dating back to 1975. Start the day in Copley Square, New Year’s Eve kicks off at 11:45am with free performances, activities and amazing ice sculptures throughout Back Bay, Boston Common and around Boston Public Library. Performances through the day and night include Puppet Showplace Theater, Boston Youth Chamber, Chu Ling Dance Academy, Improv Boston and more. Stroll Boston Common and Copley Square to marvel at the amazing ice sculptures carved by master sculptures.

The Frog Pond Skating Spectacular kicks off the countdown to 2020 with a show by The Skating Club of Boston at 5:30pm and ends with City of Boston’s Family Fireworks produced by the Mugar Foundation & The City of Boston. Looking to kick off the new year with a bang? Head down to Boston’s waterfront for Midnight Fireworks on the Harbor or stick around Copley Square for First Night Copley Countdown!

A Mike’d Up New Year’s Eve

If the hustle and bustle of the busy city isn’t your style of pace for New Year’s Eve, DoubleTree by Hilton Boston-Andover has a great overnight stay package that is perfect for couples or groups of friends to stay, laugh, and say hello to 2020!
