Five years ago, the strength of Boston was challenged. Our strong willed spirit was compromised and our hearts were broken. After the dust of the Boston Marathon bombings settled on April 15, 2013, there wasn’t a sense of why us. There was a sense of how do we rebuild, together.

“Boston is a tough and resilient town. So are its people. I am supremely confident that Bostonians will pull together, take care of each other and move forward – as one proud city,” President Barack Obama so beautifully stated that Monday evening.

The honorable Mayor Martin J. Walsh took those words to heart and launched the new tradition of One Boston Day. Through his motion, April 15th would no longer serve as a reminder of one of our darkest days in the history of our city. It would serve as a day to give back to our community through generosity, random acts of kindness, and remind ourselves what it truly means to be a Bostonian.

Starting Thursday, April 12th, our Team Members and our wonderful, valued partners are coming together to serve our community with the following initiatives:

Thursday, April 12th through Sunday, April 15th Hilton Boston Logan Airport and Hilton Boston Downtown/Faneuil Hall will team up with Zoo New England for their annual sock drive, supporting Bay Cove Human Services, the non-profit Boston homelessness service programs, including The Center for Change. A clean, dry pair of socks is hardly a luxury for most of us, but it is something that can have a huge impact on the comfort, health and safety of homeless men and women in our community.

Friday, April 13th join us in donating blood or platelets along with us at Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. A member of the New England Patriots will be on hand from 10:00am – 11:00am to help us provide DoubleTree blankets and cookies. Everyone who donates that day will be entered into a drawing for a one-night stay at Hilton Boston Downtown/Faneuil Hall.  Advanced reservations are recommended for donating. Please contact Kraft Family Blood Donor Center directly by calling 617-632-3206.

Connolly’s Publik House at Hilton Boston Logan Airport and Sora at DoubleTree by Hilton Boston – Bedford Glen will offer first responders complimentary appetizers on Sunday, April 15th. Offer is discretion to hotel restaurant.

Hampton Inn by Hilton Boston – Cambridge will be providing prepared meals for area first responders in the Cambridge neighborhood. The hotel Team Members will provide a full dinner, including the fixings, as well as an ice cream sundae bar to sweeten their thank you. The hotel continues to host marathon runners and their families, providing each with snacks and running fuel food upon arrival and morning of the race.

DoubleTree by Hilton Boston – Bedford Glen, at DoubleTree by Hilton Boston – Cambridge and DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Logan Airport will also be making surprise visits to our local fire and police stations, thanking them for their service with our warm DoubleTree cookies.

Also on Sunday, our partner, Phantom Gourmet will be providing full catered lunches to one local fire house and one local police department alongside two of their restaurant partners and dessert donated by DoubleTree by Hilton Boston – Downtown.

As a proud member of the Boston community for over 35 years, we at Hilton are looking forward to giving back this year. We are Hilton. We are Bostonians. We are Boston Strong.
