Blue Star Donuts, a Portland based donut and coffee shop founded in 2012, collaborated with the Duniway Portland and Jackrabbit restaurant to bring guests a limited edition donut this fall.

Jackrabbit chef, Chef Chris Cosentino, and Blue Star Donuts pastry chef, Chef Stephanie Thornton, worked together to create a new recipe for the charred date custard pastry. The donut is available now through December 2019 and can be found at Jackrabbit, Jackrabbit Coffee Bar, or any Portland Blue Star Donuts location.

A little bit more about the donut: This beauty starts with sweet dates that are perfectly charred, fresh from the charcoal oven in the Jackrabbit kitchen. They are then blended and folded into a creamy vanilla custard and then the mixture is stuffed into a Blue Star Donuts’ signature buttery brioche donut. The donut is then dipped into a subtly sweet glaze that’s made from fresh carrot juice and smoked maple syrup. It’s finished off with flakes of sea salt and a dash of Aleppo chili powder for an extra kick. Who’s ready to get their taste buds blown?!
