Kick off the holiday season with a glowing, pink forest, that leads through reimagined holiday spaces packed with frosty, holiday treats. Guests also get a first taste of Museum of Ice Cream’s new “Gingerbread Disco” flavor and treats from MyMo Mochi, La Michoacana, and Ghirardelli. After recently announcing its permanence in the Bay Area, Museum of Ice Cream is excited to invite & unite the community for a new annual, illuminating event unlike any other.

With over 27 artworks, visitors will enjoy watching the artworks’ miniature dramas unfold, while also observing the low-tech inner workings that bring them to life.

Glow: Festival of Lights – December 6 to January 6

Discover the world of bright lights during the darkest time of the year! The Exploratorium’s annual festival Glow invites visitors to a series of illuminating events and to look up and around to see light art, including visitor-favorite Cubatron Core, a coil-like art structure made up of over 3,000 LED lights by Bay Area artist and engineer Mark Lottor.

‘Tis the Season for Science: Life on Ice: November 16, 2018 – January 6, 2019

Wintry surprises await at the California Academy of Sciences’ annual holiday exhibit ‘Tis the Season for Science: Life on Ice. Glide around a holiday ice rink with friends and family in the heart of Golden Gate Park, catch falling snow flurries in the East Garden, and enjoy an exciting line-up of festive live performances throughout the season. Stand next to life-size models of polar bears and Antarctic penguins, and get hands-on while learning about the incredible frozen ecosystems found at our planet’s poles through fun, kid-friendly interactives. Step inside the Snowman Theater to view Science of Snow, a 7-minute dome show perfect for families. This year, join the Academy for Sunday Skate Nights in Golden Gate Park on November 18 and 25 and December 2 and 9 and enjoy special after-hours access to the holiday ice rink, sip hot chocolate, decorate cookies, enjoy seasonal treats, and listen to festive winter tunes.
