Celebrate in a Pop-up Holiday Lounge
Toast the holiday season in the new Windows Wonderland pop-up holiday lounge at Windows on Minnesota on the 50th floor of the IDS Tower presented by The Marquette. This festive lounge features holiday cocktails, a limited menu, festive décor and holiday tunes. A fun way to give back this season is by ordering the Cocktail for a Cause with half of the proceeds of the featured cocktail being donated to the Children’s Minnesota Foundation. The Windows Wonderland is open from 4:00pm-7:oopm on December 9,10,11,13,18,19,20 and 23. Make it a full experience and book a stay at The Marquette.
Shop til’ you Drop
The nice thing about Minnesota is we have tax free clothes and plenty of places to shop. Shop at Nicollet Mall right in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Spend a day at Mall of America and get all your gift shopping done in one place. Visit Southdale Center in Edina for a more low-key shopping experience. Fact, did you know Southdale was the first enclosed shopping mall in the United States? If you are looking for high end shopping, head a few blocks from Southdale to the Galleria in Edina or the Shops at 50th & France. If you want to venture out to some charming suburbs, we love the shops and restaurants in downtown Excelsior and Wayzata.
Be sure to check out some of our holiday hotel shopping packages to enjoy gift cards, dining deals, Mall of America coupons, and more at Homewood Suites by Hilton Edina, Embassy Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Airport or Hilton Minneapolis St. Paul Airport.
Join the Festivities of Holidazzle
Holidazzle is the premiere holiday event in Downtown Minneapolis. It brings all ages together during the holiday season. The Holidazzle tradition has been going on for years, it’s a festive marketplace set-up that features Minneapolis area vendors that provide food, gifts, and handcrafted items. Holidazzle takes place at the beautiful Loring Park in the heart of Minneapolis. Enjoy this 2019 Winter Wonderland experience Thursdays-Sundays, November 29-December 22.
Light up the Night
There are plenty of places to see holiday lights in Minneapolis. A local favorite place to see lights is at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen. This is a 30-minute drive west of Minneapolis, the drive is well worth it. The light scene is magical! You can even buy a s’more kit and cozy up by the fire with hot cocoa. To make a full evening out west, we recommend having dinner at the nearby Axels—a fine dining steakhouse—right in Downtown Chanhassen.
See a Holiday Show
The holidays are a wonderful time to see a show. Luckily, Minneapolis is well known for their shows and theaters. There are so many great holiday shows for all ages! Are you in the mood for taking the kids to see Cinderella at the Children’s Theatre or seeing the classic Christmas Carol at the historic Guthrie Theatre? Did you know you can receive up to a 20% discount at Hennepin Theatres and a VIP experience at the Orpheum Theatre if you book at any Hilton? Simply show your Hilton key card at the 9th street VIP entrance to the Orpheum for no line, no wait, plus you can enjoy complimentary beer or wine and snacks before the show and at intermission. There’s no box office at this entrance so make sure to have your tickets prior to entering. Here is a list of shows you can’t miss during the season.
Bundle Up and Go Snow Tubing
Gather family, friends, or a date and go snow tubing! This is an event everyone can enjoy. All you need to do is show up at one of the local hills and be prepared to have a blast. As you tube down the hill you can’t help by smile and laugh from ear-to-ear. A few places to go snowtubing in the Minneapolis area are: Elm Creek Park, Theodore Wirth Park, and Buck Hill.
Lace Up Your Ice Skates
What is more picturesque than ice skating outdoors in Minnesota during the holidays? The Twin Cities has plenty of free ice skating! We want to highlight one rink that gives the true ice-skating experience— Lake of the Isles. This oval rink is created on the lake in the center of the beautiful Minneapolis Kenwood neighborhood. The historic neighborhood and homes are full of character and charm! If you do not have skates, you can rent them at the warming house for free. When you are finished skating, head to The Kenwood—a nearby restaurant—and warm up with some excellent food.
If you want to shop the weekend away stay at the Hilton/Minneapolis/Bloomington. If you want to experience Holidazzle and downtown Minneapolis events then we suggest you stay at the Hilton Downtown Minneapolis or the Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis Downtown. We also welcome you to check into any of the Hilton locations in the Minneapolis area.
