Edina’s first brewery, Wooden Hill Brewing Company, was founded by brothers James and Sean Ewen in 2018.

On his 21st birthday, James received a homebrewing kit from his craft-beer loving older brother, Sean. This sparked a passion that grew into years of research to write and brew nearly a hundred unique beer recipes, both traditional and culinary-inspired.

James discovered one of his greatest joys in brewing was sharing his beer with others, so he partnered with Sean to bring his dream to reality. In March 2018, they built the first brewery and taproom in the City of Edina.

In addition to rotating beers, the production brewery also has its own kitchen on site, which is now helmed by MasterChef contestant, Jordan Roots. Visit for everything from garlic parmesan fancy fries or warm Bavarian pretzels to flatbread pizzas and beer floats. Here’s an insider’s tip – so far, the CODE 3 IPA has been the best seller. Stop in to see if it’s your favorite too.

Wooden Hill was recently featured in the “Where to Drink Now” issue of Mpls. St. Paul Magazine and was listed as a top taproom for families by Minnesota Parent.
