The Palafoxiana library dates back to the 17th century and was the first Mexican public library of the colonial era. On Calle de los Dulces (“the street of sweets”), anyone and everyone with a sweet tooth will be overwhelmed and overjoyed, with 40 candy stores to choose from. We also strongly recommend a sampling of the famous mole poblano and chile en nogada in places like the Mural de los Poblanos, Augurio, La Noria and Casa Barroca.

Now we move onto the Parque Lineal (which translates to “linear park”), which features four main attractions: the Metropolitan Ecopark, where you can do hiking or cycling activities, and in case you travel with your pet, you can also bring it along with you; the Garden of Art, where you can jog or ride a bike and get closer to nature; the top attraction is the largest observation wheel in the world, the Star of Puebla; and finally, enjoy the Paseo Río Atoyac recreation center, which seeks to promote care for the environment.

The most famous museum of the region is the Amparo Museum, which chronicles Mexican history from 2,500 B.C. to present day. The International Baroque Museum is also one of the most modern museums and honors the Mexican architecture of the Baroque era. The Museum of the Mexican Revolution or the House of the Serdán Brothers is a stop where you can see real bullet holes from the era of the war over Mexican’s independence. A historical tour of this magical city is unlike any other.

If you have time, we recommend a visit to Cantona, one of the eight archeological zones of Puebla, which is only an hour away by car. This settlement is on a lava field or malpaís and is considered the most urbanized pre-Hispanic city in Mexico. You could also visit the forts of Loreto and Guadalupe, where you will be transported back in time and learn about the history of the Mexican revolution.
