Nestled between two freshwater lakes, North Bay is a paradise for nature lovers.
In the summer months, take a day or night cruise aboard the Chief Commanda II for a tour of the French River, Callander Bay, North Shore, and Manitou Islands – on-board entertainment and fine dining guarantee a good time for the whole family. Dig out the roller blades or take a bike for a spin along the picturesque Waterfront Park, or enjoy a refreshing dip on the family-friendly Marathon Beach. If you’re a vintage car enthusiast, or simply a kid at heart, you’ll particularly enjoy the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company, a theme park that offers rides on vintage carousels and locomotives.
When the weather starts to cool, you can still enjoy hiking along the Duchesnay Falls Trails, which boast two stunning waterfalls and spectacular fall foliage. In the winter, the 350-foot vertical at Laurentian Ski Hill beckons – groomed snowshoeing and hiking trails as well as snowmobile and ATV tours will appeal to winter enthusiasts. History buffs may prefer to keep warm and stay indoors with a tour of the Discovery North Bay Museum instead, or perhaps the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defense.
