Capital Hilton in downtown Washington, D.C. is a great choice for families visiting our nation’s capital. Here are the top reasons why Capital Hilton is an ideal choice if you’re looking for a family hotel in Washington, DC.

Capital Hilton has large public areas including a lovely lobby that includes downtown D.C. restaurants such as The Statler Lounge and the North Gate Grill, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The rooms are stylish and the hotel has everything your family needs for a restful stay including room service and a gift shop with snacks. The exact room arrangement will depend on the room you book, but count on comfortable bedding and a spacious hotel room.

Capital Hilton is on 16th St. and is located just blocks away from the White House. We would walk to the White House during the day and also take a family stroll there most evenings. It’s the perfect location for seeing attractions such as the National Mall, the Washington Monument and memorials. Capital Hilton is also convenient to the airports and several Metro stations, and the bellman is always ready to hail a taxi for you, so it is easy to get around to other locations in the city.

Our positive experience with the concierge staff began before we even arrived at the hotel. I like to plan out certain aspects of our trip in advance including restaurant reservations. The concierge emailed me a detailed list of restaurants near the hotel including type of cuisine and distance from the hotel. This was incredibly helpful as I made plans for our evenings. They also suggested tour options and a specific tour company for our bus tour.

Working out while on vacation is important to my husband and me, and this was one of the best fitness centers we have seen associated with a hotel. Capital Hilton has an arrangement with MINT Health Club which you can access directly from the hotel. This high-end fitness center has all the cardio equipment and weights you could possibly need. They also have a full-service day spa. Use of this health club is free for silver, gold and diamond Hilton Honors members and available to other hotel guests for a $15 daily fee.

If you visit our nation’s capital with kids it’s nice to have a convenient and luxurious hotel where you can rest at the end of your busy days. I recommend Capital Hilton as a great choice for a family hotel in Washington, D.C.
