From April 22 through May 27, 2019, guests can support one of Hawaii’s most important environmental causes by sipping a specially crafted cocktail. On Oahu, Hilton bartenders have put their creativity to the test to highlight local ingredients and support the island’s native rainforests in collaboration with the Ko‘olau Mountains Watershed Partnership (KMWP).
Each specialty cocktail for Cocktails for a Cause uses an ingredient from Hawaii’s local farms or distilleries, and one dollar from every cocktail sold will directly benefit the mission of KMWP. KMWP is a Hawaii-based nonprofit that strives to protect the native rainforests on Oahu’s Ko‘olau Mountains. These forest ecosystems replenish underground aquifers which serve as the majority source of fresh water for the island, providing Oahu with approximately 133 billion gallons of water each year. The alliance works across landowner boundaries to eliminate various threats to this precious source of fresh water using a combination of adaptive management strategies and established conservation practices.
