There’s no doubt that Texas is a big, wide wonderland filled with things to see and do. From sports and brews in Houston to rollercoasters in San Antonio, discovery centers in Dallas-Fort Worth to live music and lake surfing in Austin, there’s no shortage of ways to have fun. And for guests at participating Hilton hotels this summer, many of those experiences can be enjoyed at a special promotional price.

Read on for the biggest and best ways to kick up some dust and make the most of your vacation in the Lone Star State.

Awesome experiences in Austin
Austin may be known as the “Live Music Capital of the World,” but it’s a lot of other great things too – including the perfect place to get outdoors under the big Texas sky. Take surf lessons on a manmade lake at NLand Surf Park, make friends of the furry variety at Austin Zoo, and knock back a few local beers during a behind-the-scenes tour or disc golf experience at Live Oak Brewing Company.

To really live it up like a real Austinite, plan to start your day with a breakfast taco (or other food-truck fare) and a cold-brew coffee to fuel you through the morning. You’ll then be ready for some stand-up paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake in the center of town, and you can round out the day with some live music in the Red River entertainment district or hanging out in the backyard of a bar on Rainey Street.

Distilleries and discoveries in Dallas-Fort Worth
Make the most of your trip to Dallas – aka “The Big D” – by taking advantage of all the big fun it has to offer. Family-friendly activities abound at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Dallas and SEA LIFE Aquarium in nearby Grapevine, or for some cool science lessons with an amazing view of the city, check out the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Get your phone’s camera ready as you ride the museum’s glass escalator – which seems to suspend like magic from the side of the building – as it offers a picture-perfect perspective of the city skyline in the distance.

For a real taste of Texas, sample local spirits on a tour of Firestone & Robertson Distillery Co.’s Whiskey Ranch in Fort Worth, and if you’ve got time to spare, hang out like the locals do at funky bars and cafes in Deep Ellum. If you’re still not ready to leave, do some shopping at NorthPark Center or grab some grub from a food truck and enjoy a free concert or dance class at Klyde Warren Park downtown.

Hitting the highlights in Houston
There’s nothing subtle about Houston, where everything is big, bold, and proud of its Texan heritage. Enjoy America’s favorite pastime with a pre-game tour of Minute Maid Park and stick around to watch the Houston Astros knock it out of the park from your seat in the field box. For some stimulation of the imagination, check out the Houston Museum of Natural Science and spend a couple of hours exploring other parts of the city’s official (not to mention walkable) museum district.

To top off your Houston adventure, add some of the city’s most iconic spots to your itinerary. Do some major upscale shopping at The Galleria – one of America’s most famous shopping malls – and treat yourself to a show in the city’s theater district before knocking back a cold one at Saint Arnold Brewing Company, the oldest craft brewery in all of Texas.

Sunshine and sightseeing in San Antonio
Down in San Antonio, the confluence of cultures makes for a beautiful visit filled with food, history, and human connection. Of course, the Alamo and the Riverwalk are must-see destinations, but to really get the lay of the land, step aboard a “Hop On, Hop Off” tour with CitySightseeing San Antonio. Then, spend some time communing with the creatures of the San Antonio Zoo (while you’re there, don’t forget to flutter into the Butterfly House and ride the zoo’s carousel and train). For a spike in adrenaline, challenge yourself to try all the rollercoasters and thrilling rides of Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Before you head back out of town, spend some time shopping and dining in a historic Texas landmark at The Pearl, and take in the culture and beauty of La Villita’s historic arts village on the Riverwalk. And, of course, your visit isn’t complete without a snack from a frutería or Mexican bakery, so be sure to leave room for a sweet treat.

Wherever your adventures in Texas may lead, you can take advantage of Hilton’s summer promotions with partners all around the state. Now through early September 2018, book your Austin, DFW, Houston, or San Antonio stay through travel.hilton.com and select the “Explore Like a Local” reservation option.
