Why not start a new tradition by planning your next vacation to Hawaii around the holidays? Imagine building a snowman out of sand. Watching a fireworks show on the beach. Or waking up to clear blue skies and endless sunshine on Christmas morning. Here are our favorite ways to enjoy the holiday season, island-style.

Island-style Feasts
At Hilton Waikiki Beach, you can wake up and make meals last all day long. Offering American and Hawaiian comfort food, M.A.C. 24/7 doesn’t close until it snows. On Thanksgiving, the restaurant offers a brunch and dinner menu. Guests can choose roasted turkey with all the fixings or indulge on the famous M.A.C. daddy pancake station.

Banyan Tree Lighting
Planted in 1873, the banyan tree in Lahaina is one the largest trees in the US. Every year, this Maui landmark is adorned with thousands of colored lights during the holiday season. The lighting ceremony takes place the first weekend of December with a fun-filled event featuring local entertainment, holiday crafts and kids activities.

White Christmas
If you’re heading to the Big Island, you can still experience a white Christmas in Hawaii. Home to the tallest sea mountain in the world, you’ll find spectacular views of the snow-capped summit of Maunakea and your best chance of experiencing a winter wonderland during your Hawaiian holiday.

Waikiki Holiday Parade
This nighttime parade honors the military heroes and survivors of Pearl Harbor. Local Hawaiian musicians, marching bands from across the country, military units and local officials make their way through Waikiki on Kalakaua Avenue. The Waikiki Holiday Parade is held annually the Friday following Thanksgiving Day.

Retail Therapy
Whether you’re seeking a last-minute Christmas gift or want to take advantage of the post-holiday sales, you’ll find an array of shopping experiences on the island of Oahu. Waikiki is internationally known as a shopping mecca – boasting luxury goods and popular brands like Chanel, Gucci, Saks Fifth Avenue and the like. TIP: Make sure to stop by the Information Desk at the International Market Place. Show your Hilton guest room card and receive a complimentary Passport to Shopping with exclusive offers from more than 50 shops.

Treat Yourself
Holiday travel can be stressful. To relax and recharge, treat yourself to a spa retreat like no other than Spa Grande at the Grand Wailea in Maui. The spa also offers special treatments for keiki (6-12 years) and teens, including a chocolate massage. It’s a wonderful way for parents and kids to spend a relaxing experience together. Families can take part in a variety of holiday festivities during their stay. Click here to read more.
