Finding kid-friendly fun on Oahu is easy, which means it’s a great destination to take the whole family on vacation. From experiencing a traditional Hawaiian luau to building sandcastles on the beach, touring movie locations, or just relaxing by the pool, here’s how to keep the kids occupied on Oahu while also finding time to enjoy yourself.

Adventure in Waikiki
An obvious draw of Waikiki is its iconic, family-friendly and world-famous white sand beach where you can swim, learn to surf or stand-up paddleboard, take an outrigger canoe ride, or just relax on the sand.

But there’s more to Waikiki than just the beach. For instance, you can explore the 42-acre Honolulu Zoo, located in Kapiolani Park between Waikiki and Diamond Head. In addition to visiting the animals, kids can run around and enjoy the zoo’s playground –and it’s a lovely place to bring your lunch and picnic on the grass.

You’ll find plenty of activities for kids on Oahu within walking distance of the Hilton Waikiki Beach, including the Waikiki Aquarium, and two other great beaches: Fort DeRussy Beach Park, and Ala Moana Beach Park. In the evening, you can learn how to party local-style at an outdoor luau with an authentic Polynesian show and dinner.

Or maybe you’d just prefer to spend some time enjoying the comforts of your hotel. In that case, have a luxurious day of play in the Hilton Hawaiian Village’s outdoor pools, including Waikiki’s longest water slide at the 5,000-square-foot Paradise Pool.

Exploring Outside of Waikiki
Only a short drive from the Hampton Inn and the Embassy Suites in Kapolei, you’ll find fun activities for kids including the popular Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii water park, and tours of historic Pearl Harbor. Movie fans can even reserve a behind-the-scenes VIP tour of “Jurassic Valley” and more at the Kualoa Ranch Hollywood Movie Sites Tour.

Or if you feel like getting out and exploring the island, rent a Polaris Slingshot “autocycle.” You can take a self-guided half- or full-day tour of Oahu with plenty of time to stop and explore whatever catches your eye along the way.

In fact, there are so many kid-friendly activities on Oahu that the only problem you’re likely to have during a family vacation on the island is convincing everyone to come home.

Book one of Hilton’s Stay & Play packages and you’ll get free breakfasts as well as savings on local experiences.
