Atlanta's "Heart of the Arts"

Less than a mile north of Centennial Olympic Park, Midtown is Atlanta’s artistic hub. Midtown is home to the famous Fox Theatre, which features touring Broadway acts, as well as the High Museum of Art, Center for Puppetry Arts, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Ballet, the country’s first regional ballet company. Take an afternoon stroll through Piedmont Park, Atlanta’s answer to Central Park, or the Atlanta Botanical Garden, one of the country’s top 10 botanic gardens. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to James Beard Award Winner Hugh Acheson’s Empire State South for a modern spin on Southern dishes. Or tuck into a plate of the renowned fried chicken at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, a charming Atlanta institution. Beer lovers, head to Atlanta’s biggest brewery, Sweetwater Brewing Company, for a pint of their flagship 420 Extra Pale Ale. Sweetwater’s patio is dog-friendly, and the brewery regularly hosts live music.
