Summertime sizzles in Miami with all kinds of fun family-friendly festivals happening throughout the months of June and July.

From tropical fruit tasting to a spectacular fireworks display for the Fourth of July, mark your calendar for a trip to Miami this summer and experience these hot happenings.

Redland Summer Fruit Festival: June 22-23, 2019

While most travelers flock to the beaches of Miami for summer fun (and rightly so!), go off-the-beaten path and jaunt down to the lesser known area called the Redlands. Nestled between Miami’s bustling metropolis and the laid-back Florida Keys, Redland is a rural enclave known for its lush tropical fruit groves and farms. A great place to spend the whole day, head to the Redland Summer Fruit Festival at The Fruit & Spice Park, a 37-acre subtropical paradise home to more than 500 varieties of exotic fruit, herbs, vegetables, bamboo, spices and nuts. Enjoy the summer season by tasting a variety of delicious local fruit like mangoes and bananas. During the festival, kids can ride ponies and sip fresh smoothies, while adults can sample fruit wine and participate in a watermelon-eating contest. Admission is $10 per person, $3 for children ages 6 to 11, and free for kids under 6.

America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park: July 4, 2019

There’s nothing better than watching neon colored fireworks burst over the water with Miami’s twinkling skyline as the picture-perfect backdrop. And that spectacular show happens every July during America’s Birthday Bash in the heart of the action in downtown Miami. Located in waterfront Bayfront Park, the event is the largest free fireworks show in South Florida. Get there early during the day to experience a variety of kid-friendly activities in the designated “Family Fun Zone.” Stick around through the afternoon for live music and a happy hour at the Budweiser beer garden. Then, as the summer sun begins to set over the water, pick out the perfect spot to watch the fireworks light up the sky. And don’t forget that admission for all ages is free.

Mango & Tropical Fruit Festival: July 13-14, 2019

Here’s another great opportunity to celebrate a deliciously sweet delicacy that Miami is famous for: mangoes! Cruise through the picturesque neighborhoods of Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, and you’ll discover full and vibrant mango trees bearing fruit on nearly every corner. There’s no better place to celebrate mango season than the exquisitely lush Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, an 80+ acre garden that hosts special plant-themed events throughout the year, including the Mango and Tropical Fruit Festival. The weekend festival features gardening workshops, a fruit tree sale, mango tasting and cooking demonstrations about how to use one of Florida’s most famous fruits in your own dishes at home. Plus, there will be live music, fun activities for the kids and more. Admission is $25 for adults, $18 for seniors, $12 for children ages 6-17, and free for kids under 6.

Between these sweet fruit festivals and a fabulous fireworks show, you’re sure to have plenty of family fun in Miami this summer.
