It’s that time of year again! Time to plan your trip to Dallas, Texas for one of the city’s biggest annual events, the State Fair of Texas! The first day of the State Fair of Texas is on Friday, September 27, 2019 and continues until October 20, 2019!

The saying goes that everything is bigger in Texas. At the State Fair of Texas, you’ll discover the truth in that statement, starting with giant turkey legs or corny dogs. Take full advantage of your cheat day (it’s always cheat day at the state fair) and grab yourself something fried as well. From fried beer to fried peaches, you’ll be shocked at the many fried food creations available.  If you’re looking for something more outside of the box, try a Cotton Candy Taco or a Sweet Bakin’ Bacon, a cream-filled sponge cake wrapped in bacon and dipped in funnel cake batter.

Although the State Fair of Texas is famous for the unique food options, the fair has much more to offer. First established in 1886, the State Fair has celebrated the Lone Star State by promoting agriculture, education and community involvement. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Texas Innovation” and will highlight the many creations that were first introduced right here, deep in the heart of Texas!

Not only can you experience some “Texas-Sized” foods but say hello to Big Tex, the world’s tallest cowboy! Big Tex has been a Texan icon for the past 65 years, now the official greeter and icon of the State Fair of Texas.

A few of the exciting things going on at the fair this year include:

MIDWAY

The State Fair of Texas Midway includes more than 70 rides and games, keeping you entertained for hours! Grab your coupon book from designated booths and hop on the Thrillway, the Texas Star Ferris wheel, or even the Top o’ Texas Tower. While visiting the Midway, don’t forget to stop by the Errol McKoy Greenhouse on the Midway and enjoy music, family-friendly activities, and the Big Tex Urban Farms.
