It isn’t necessarily new information that Orlando is the perfect city for travelers. It’s a vacation destination by nature and a hub for all things entertainment. With a wide variety of theme parks, kid-friendly activities and nearby beaches, you can pack up the whole family and head down for a pre or post-cruise trip for the memory books.
To start, it’s home to great theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, as well as SeaWorld Orlando, which is widely known and celebrated. You can take a day trip to the park and enjoy their “animal experiences,” which allows you to visit up close animals like penguins, dolphins, manatees and sea lions. Through an expansive underwater tunnel, you can also walk through and view different sharks and stingrays.
Orlando is also great for activities designed for learning and exploring. There’s places like the Kennedy Space Center, which has exhibits broken down into chronological order, and you can learn everything from the very beginning of space exploration to current and even future missions. Then there’s Legoland, which features dozens of rides, shows and attractions for kids 2 to 12 years old.
For those who enjoy days that aren’t as active, Orlando is also near lots of relaxing beaches. For example, there’s Cocoa Beach, which is home to the “world’s largest surf shop” and is the closest to Orlando. There, you can go paddle boarding, ride bikes or simply lie out on the warm sand if you so choose. There’s Daytona Beach, which is most notably known for its NASCAR activities and only a short drive away. Then, there’s New Smyrna Beach, which is closest to the Port and features local gems like boutiques and Old Florida eateries.
Point is, before you board your Caribbean cruise out of Port Canaveral, be sure to take advantage of and enjoy all the great things to do in Orlando too! The city has tons to offer for every type of tourist and for every type of mood.
