Halloween is coming up and it’s time to start thinking about what to do with the kiddos! With events taking place all month long, you won’t run out of ideas to keep your family in the spirit! Our top list of family-friendly Halloween activities in Austin include:

Boo at the Zoo!

Enjoy after hours at the zoo every Friday and Saturday in October from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm.  Come dressed in your costumes, bring a flashlight to make sure you can see the animals, and take a ride on the haunted Train at the Austin Zoo.

Ghost Walk Austin

Every Thursday in October, Walking Tours of Austin presents a walk-able tour filled with ghoulish places with expert storytellers sharing tales of murder, mystery, unrequited love, and of course, ghosts! Meet at Jo’s Coffee on 2nd Street for your tour starting at 8 pm!

Haunted Trails

Starting October 18th , enjoy your Friday and Saturday evenings from 7-11 pm on a 3/4th mile trail filled with creepy scarecrows and goblins, ghost stories, dark-side spooks and all things scary at Pioneer Farms. Take part in a pumpkin-carving contest, the Ghost Run haunted trail or love music at the historic dance hall.

Spooktacular at the Bullock Museum

On Friday, October 25, the Bullock Museum is hosting its annual Halloween Celebration including a FREE admission to the museum’s exhibits.

Haunted on the Hill

On Saturday, October 26th, make your way over to Hill Country Indoor for the Monster Dash starting at 6 pm. Wear your costume and make your way through the Hidden Haunted House. This family-friendly activity includes a kid-friendly section, a PG-13 scare maze and plenty of fall foods and treats to choose from!

Fall Fun Fest

Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, TX is the place to be on Halloween day! From 9 am-11:30 am the Fall Fest is the place to be if you have a preschooler. There will be pre-school & toddler carnival games, hayrides, and fun entertainment. Don’t forget to bring canned food to donate.

Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch

The Barton Hill Farms in Bastrop, TX will launch its annual Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch on weekends from September 28 – November 3. Get lost in a corn maze, enjoy the pumpkin patch and a barrel train and take part in games, live music, and more!

Ghost Town

For the older kiddos, make your way over to Manor, TX. Just 12 miles away from Austin sits a spooky old Ghost Town. With tons of stories that fill this late 1800 township of 500 people, you may be able to experience strange voices out of nowhere, noises, and the distinct smell of pipe smoke. Take part in the various activities taking place in October.
