For the outdoor enthusiast visiting Seattle, you won’t need to travel far to venture out into some of the most beautiful scenery imaginable.

As an avid hiker, my list of favorite hikes is non-ending and I still have only conquered about half of the hikes within 30 miles of Seattle. A great tool I highly recommend in order to narrow your search down to your hiking preference, is the Washington Trails Association website: here. This fantastic resource was established back in 1966 as a Signpost magazine and has now grown into a diverse community of hikers who enjoy sharing their stories.

The website has evolved over the years to help hikers find their perfect hike based on their abilities, location, mileage and distance. You can search for your next hike by using the ‘Hiking Guide’ link: here  where you can search by preferences including region, hike name, elevation, distance and more, or if you prefer you can search using the ‘Hike Finder Map’ here in order to narrow your search to a particular region in Washington.

Another great tool on is their trip reports here. This is where you can find useful reports from hikers who have recently hiked the trail you selected. Hikers share their hiking experience and can provide you with important updates on the trail, including snow and road reports, or whether there were bugs or other obstacles which might make the trail unsuitable for you and your hiking companions. Simply search for the name of the hike you are considering and scroll down to the trip reports to read recent comments and photos from fellow hikers.

If you are concerned your hiking wish list is too long and you won’t be able to hike all of the trails during your current trip to Seattle but know you will be back to visit our beautiful city again? No problem with’s ‘Save to Backpack’ tool! Simply login to register here: (you can opt out from receiving their emails by unchecking the box) and then you can quickly add the list of hikes you want to do at a later time into your backpack. Once you’ve conquered the hike you can remove it from your backpack and even write your own trip report!

According to there are over 3,314 hikes in our great state. For a quick list of hikes easily accessible from Seattle this page can assist greatly: Read here

If you really want to action pack your stay in Seattle, stay a little south of the city for easy access to some of the best hiking trails the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center or DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Seattle Airport are both great options for adventure-seekers and are also conveniently located within 1 mile of SeaTac Airport. Both hotels offer a variety of fun amenities for families including pools and fitness centers. Jump on the highway and you’ll be exploring Rainier National Park in under 1.5 hours and Olympic National Park in 2 hours.

For Extra Adventure: Book one of the many incredible tours Evergreen Escapes offers. We recommend a day tour of Mount Rainier to explore old-growth forests, enjoy the best views of the mountain, and pick wild berries on a sub-alpine hiking trail. Whichever adventure you choose, pick our Breakfast Plus Perks package and get discounts to all of these amazing experiences and more.

I hope to see you out on the trails! Happy Hiking.
