Historic Landmarks and Festival Fun

Collinsville, Illinois, 12 miles east of St. Louis, was once the site of Cahokia, the largest pre-Columbian Native American city north of Mexico. Now a US National Historic Landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cahokia Mounds spans 4,000 acres and 80 earthen mounds that give us the hint of what once was a thriving city. Collinsville isn’t all about the past. Stop in for the Horseradish Festival or Italian Fest, or place a bet at Illinois’ only horseracing track outside of the Chicagoland area.
